Message down and putting together something helpful for the forum members considering all of the overheating issues we have been seeing.

I will be the first to tell you that an electric fan will not be able to compete with the flowrate of a mechanically driven fan but what you must consider is whether or not the electric fan is adequate for your application.

Thus far, I have been using an electric fan setup in my Z and have put it through a good deal of testing, track time, highway time, city redlight to redlight time. I haven't had any issues with the electric fan setup. In addition to that, DAYTONAZ (Roland) has been putting a good deal of time on the electric fan setup in his upgraded TT and has not had any issues either. I am sure that the mechanical fan will be able to keep temps down beyond the capacity of an electric unit, however, so long as there aren't other issues with the cooling system, the electric fan setup has shown to work very well and maintain reasonable temperatures.

As for the speculation part, I wouldn't consider it at such. The comments I made were simply regirgitations of well known automotive information and other information that I have come to learn through my experience with these vehicles. You can either accept them or you can discard them - I left that up to the reader to determine for themselves.

It is well known that when an engine runs at higher temperatures, it will improve efficiency as well as emissions. This is due to the fact that fuel atomizes and vaporizes much better when the engine is hotter, and it will lead to more thorough combustion and less wasted hydrocarbon going out the tailpipe.

The VG makes its best power around the coolant and oil temperatures I have stated: this is information that is consistent with the experience I have with these cars on a dyno and it also applies to all other internal combustion engines.

When the engine is running warmer than 180F, the pistons will have expanded slightly more to reduce blowby, the oil will be a little thinner and promoting more flow, it will get better fuel economy. It wont make the most power, however.

I'm not really sure other than what I have stated above what exactly your complaint with my post is. If you could clarify, I would be happy to elaborate further.
